Were you just beginning to understand the new DOL overtime rules? Then a federal judge in Texas put a halt to those rules. There are lots of arguments going back and forth so we have no idea of when the new rules will actually even go into effect! What employers can do is keep an eye on the news and other sources for a decision.
Many of our own customers have shared with us that they had already implemented the new rules, taking months of preparation time to make sure everything was ready to be implemented by the due date. Many employers are frustrated at the halt because reversing what they already implemented would be unfair to employees.
Remaining competitive is a challenge for many small to mid-sized businesses when trying to attract and keep good talent. We had a customer share with us that many of their young candidates are not interested in “benefits” as part of the compensation package. This change forced their company to take a look at the whole compensation package when implementing the new rules……and then there was a halt on them!
